Marrying In Massachusetts
Massachusetts General Law requires, with the exception of special
circumstances, that you and your significant other must appear in person at
the Town Clerk’s Office in order to obtain a marriage license. Your marriage
license will be on file in the town where you file your Intention of Marriage.
Your marriage ceremony may take place in any town in Massachusetts.
You must be at least 18 years old to be married, or you must have a court
order granting an exception. Massachusetts allows for same sex marriages;
all couples are welcome, whether you reside in our state or not. We invite
everyone to experience their special day in our town.
